Chakka or Jackfruit is a seasonal fruit that is abundant in Kerala.The sweet pulp of jackfruit can be used to make various dishes.Here is a simple and easy recipe for the Chakka Ada or Jackfruit steamed cake.
Ingredients
Ripe Jackfruit-200gm
Jaggery -150gm
Rice Flour -250gm
Grated Coconut-1 cup
Ghee -5tsp
Cardamom Powder-1tsp
Jeera Powder -1/2 tsp
Water -150ml
Method
Cut the Jackfruit into small pieces.
Heat a pan and add the ghee.Add the cut Jackfruit pieces into it and stir continuously.
Meanwhile add water to the jaggery pieces and melt.
Add this mixture to jackfruit.
Cook till all the water evaporates and the mixture becomes thick.
Add the scraped coconut, cardamom powder and jeera powder and mix well and remove from heat.
When warm add the rice flour (fried) and mix thoroughly.
Keep aside for 5 minutes.
Divide into small balls and spread over banana leaves.
Steam for 15 minutes and your Chakka Ada is ready to be served.
