Kakka Erachi (Ularthiyathu)

Kakka erachi (Mussels) fry is a delcecious non veg dish common in south Kerala. It is a spicy dish can be used with rice,chappathi or any other dish.


Kakka Erachi – 1/2 kg
Sawala – 2 kg
Green chilli – 4 nos
garlic – 10 nos
Ginger – 1 big pc
Chilli powder – -2 tsp
Crushed pepper – 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric powdre 1/4 tsp
Garam Masala Powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil for seasoning
Mustard seeds and curry leaves


Clean the mussels. crush ginger, garlic and green chilli. Heat the oil in a pan. Put mustard seeds, add the crushed ingredients and cut onions and sought for a while. All add the powders and fry. Mix the meat and sought. After 3 minutes remove from heat. Serve in hot along with rice, chappathi puttu etc
